Why Does Chair Fit Matter More Than Chair Size?
Chair fit is more important than chair size because a chair is comfortable to sit in for long periods only if it is designed to support you and your desk at the right height‚ in the right way․
A large chair isn’t necessarily a good chair․
Some consumers believe these attributes (wider seats and backs‚ bigger overall sizes) mean greater comfort and other benefits․ They look more spacious․ They feel more spacious․ They might be perceived as higher quality just by looking at them․
But fit is not the same as size․
A big chair doesn’t necessarily provide good support․ If a chair seat is too big‚ the front edge of the seat can rest on the backs of your legs․ If the armrests are too far apart‚ you must use your shoulder muscles more․ The lumbar support in the chair may not be positioned to support your lower back․ The height of the headrest may be incorrect․
When this occurs‚ your body accommodates to the chair․
You shift in your seat․ You tilt to one side․ You shrug your shoulders․ You grip the edge of the seat․ Even after a few hours‚ the seat feels comfortable‚ but you don’t feel comfortable․
That is why adjustability is important․
NextChair Luxe 2․0 features several enhancements to better tailor the chair to individual users․ LumbarFlo™ technology offers both vertical and horizontal adjustments to lumbar support‚ allowing a closer fit of the lower back․ These benefits include improved comfort and fit for a variety of user back shapes and sitting postures․
The sliding seat pan can also improve the fit of the seat․ By adjusting the depth of the seat pan‚ you can provide added support to the thighs of multiple users․ The ideal amount of space between the front edge of the seat and the back of the user’s legs is about one to two fingers’ width․
3D armrests provide a more comfortable posture for your arms while using a keyboard‚ mouse‚ or reading․ Adjustable recline and seat angles can improve chair performance for users with various tasks․
Material is also important․ German AirMesh™ seats are made of polyester fabric blended with other materials to provide comfort and support and good ventilation for extended periods of sitting․
So when evaluating ergonomic chairs‚ don’t just consider the size of the chair․
Ask if it is a good fit․ A chair designed for your size may be more stable and comfortable than a larger chair that doesn’t fit you well․
